Every child deserves the opportunity to thrive.
At United Way of Central Minnesota, we believe a child's future should not be determined by their zip code, family income, or circumstances beyond their control. That's why we work alongside schools, nonprofits, businesses, and community partners to ensure young people have the support, resources, and opportunities they need to succeed from cradle to career.
Our Youth Opportunity work focuses on helping young people build the skills, confidence, and connections they need to graduate prepared for what's next. Whether that next step is college, technical training, military service, or entering the workforce, every student should have a clear path forward and the support to pursue it.
We know that many young people face barriers that can make success more difficult, especially those living in ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households. By bringing partners together and investing in proven solutions, we're working to create opportunities that help all youth feel supported, connected, and prepared for the future.
Our Goal
Increase student success by ensuring young people graduate academically prepared, socially and emotionally equipped, and confident in their post-graduation plans.
What Success Looks Like
- More students can identify a clear path after graduation.
- More young people feel prepared to pursue their goals.
- More students have access to the resources, relationships, and opportunities they need to succeed.
- More youth are connected to education, career, and workforce pathways that lead to long-term economic mobility.
