Learning Happens Everywhere
A child's first teachers are the adults who care for them. The Born Learning Trail helps turn everyday moments into opportunities for learning, exploration, and connection.
Located in Lions Park in Waite Park, the Born Learning Trail is an interactive outdoor experience designed for young children and their caregivers. Along the trail, families will find colorful activities that encourage movement, conversation, imagination, and problem-solving, all while having fun together.
Each stop along the trail invites children to learn through play. Whether they're counting, hopping, storytelling, or exploring the world around them, kids are building important skills that support early learning and healthy development.
Why It Matters
Research shows that children learn best through positive interactions with caring adults. Simple activities like talking, playing, reading, and exploring together help build language, social-emotional skills, and school readiness.
The Born Learning Trail provides a free, accessible way for families to create those moments while enjoying the outdoors.
Designed for Our Community
The trail features activity signs in English, Spanish, and Somali, helping more families feel welcome and included. Through partnerships with the City of Waite Park, Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union, and other community volunteers, this space was created to support learning and belonging for all.
