Black Literacy Program Development VISTA

 
This one-year VISTA project will focus on building a literacy program with and for youth-serving organizations with a specific focus on Black cultural identity development. The Literacy Leader will develop a program that will foster and support cultural identity development of youth while simultaneously developing literacy skills. The position will provide the opportunity to work with community-led organizations, school district staff, and other literacy and cultural organizations across the state as the Literacy Leader researches, designs and supports implementation. The Literacy Leader will gain skills including communication, teamwork, problem solving, implementation and leadership opportunities working with diverse populations. 

*Position part of the Literacy Leadership program of Literacy Minnesota (LitMN), which places AmeriCorps VISTA members with nonprofits, public agencies & Tribal Nations in MN & WI to build capacity to improve literacy for individuals.  Donor Engagement Director 

 Work in partnership with volunteers and members of the Resource Development Team, to create and implement a strategy to turn active leads to donors. Work to retain, recruit and engage members of UWCM affinity groups by developing a strategy to deepen member engagement with UWCM goals and initiatives.

Director – Major Gifts & Planned Giving 

 Responsible for executing the overall strategic development, evaluation and implementation of a year-round fundraising and cultivation strategy that is aligned with but focused outside of the United Way Workplace Giving model. This position will focus on Leadership donors who make contributions of $1,000 and above annually. This includes administering and managing UWCM’s Major Gifts and Planned Giving Programs; identifying, cultivating, and soliciting prospective donors; and coordinating ongoing donor relationships through regular contact, communications, and follow-up.

 Workforce Engagement Director

We seek a motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter with an interest in non-profit fundraising who can work well with others and fill an integral role in our Resource Development department. This position will be supervised with direction from Resource Development staff. This is an unpaid position.
